Mt. Fuji San, from both sides. as we passed back through main Tokyo, the city seemed to bleed out like an arterial structure but this time it faded into mountain ranges that filled every window of the car. to first catch Fuji as the sun burned heavy on the horizon behind it and the clouds hung heavy over her peak felt like an immense honor and a cliffhanger of sorts all at once. exchanging climactic feeling for clarity like all romantics would. the next morning would turn that idea on its head as we opened the hotel blinds to see her screaming through the sky right into our windows. like an anomaly even amongst its mountainous peers, it tore upwards into the sky like nothing I’ve ever witnessed. for moments at a time the clouds would clear and frame it perfectly for us to witness, like she was showing her heart and bowing in return to us.

till next time, Mt. Fuji…
